CUTCOMBE MARKET

Cutcombe Market hosts regular sales of cattle and sheep throughout the year as well as handling significant numbers of prime lambs to slaughter. Please click on the link for Fixture List to see the full sales calendar. The market at Cutcombe has been completely renewed following development of the old cattle market site and the facilities now comprise our office adjoining the sale ring building, which includes a canteen, all under one roof with a large area of dual purpose pens able to accommodate all types of livestock. Significant improvements have been achieved in terms of the handling and operation of the market with increased numbers of stock and throughput being experienced since the opening of the new facilities in August of 2010.

Cutcombe Market regularly hosts sales for the Exmoor Suckled Calf Rearers’ Association together with the annual Exmoor Horn Sheep Breeders’ Society sale. Throughout the year we have livestock to sell from throughout the Exmoor and Brendon Hills area together with stock coming forward from the North Devon and Mid Devon areas. Purchasers of stock come to Cutcombe from a wide geographical area, being throughout the South and Southwest of the country together with significant numbers from the Midlands and the North of England and Wales.

The renewed facilities at Cutcombe were built between January 2010 and August 2010. The development followed a long period of planning and negotiation and the final project was a partnership of Exmoor Farmers Livestock Auctions, Summerfield Homes, Exmoor National Park Sustainable Development Fund, Exmoor National Park, Somerset County Council and West Somerset District Council.
